For Charity, Not for Your Bloody Publicity

Before touching onto related post about the topic, let's have a moment of silence for the victims of #MH17 as they are coming home today to Malaysia for burials. They will always be remembered and condolences to the friends and families of those affected. I'm again deeply saddened by this as I know, in this very flight of MH17, there were a great number of kids in the flight, all just awaiting to go for holiday, not the last flight of their life. Rest in peace, poor souls.

Now, seriously, I believe most nowadays know about this #IceBucketChallenge but, does anyone really know what is it for and the true cause of it ? I believe not. Everyone seems to find it fun and wanting to do it for the sake of publicity, and most especially, wasting the precious drops of water.

Hey, the true hashtag of ice bucket challenge was #ALSIceBucketChallenge and what is ALS? Not much people even bothers to go look this up and let me tell you what it is for the benefit of you lazy bums out there.

The official website of ALS : http://www.alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html

To summarize this, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or a disease often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease"  affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. In time, ALS patients suffers from movement difficulty to total paralysis. As of current, there are no cure for this disease although there are some medicines here and there being developed to slow it down, not totally stopping it. Probably because not much people knows about it since mostly affected was those adults between 40 and 70 and with only 2 out of every 100,000 people will get the disease each year, this Ice Bucket Challenge thing started as an awareness campaign.

So, I don't need to further explain the ice bucket challege since most people knows about it. But what people don't know, is why are the celebrities doing it. People, it's not being done out of fun, it's being done to raise awareness about ALS and also to DONATE. See, you don't know bout this part now, do you?

The ice bucket challenge started in the States when this golfer guy, Chris Kennedy, a golfer from Sarasota in Florida, was nominated by a friend to it and soon his friends started doing it and the hashtag #StrikeOutALS came along together with the #ALSIceBucketChallenge . The craze started on July and by end of July, the ALS Association reported a dramatic increase in donations. Yes, DONATIONS is what it's all about.

Starting from the States, the craze went on to infect people all over the world, doing videos of them doing this. The videos usually consist of the person saying who nominated them, pours the ice water on themselves, nominates someone else to do it within 24 hours or donate $100 to ALS Association and that's it. What they FORGET was the part to DONATE.

Kudos to Charlie Sheen for doing it right and Steve-O from Jackass for saying it right.

So there you go, the challenge is one thing, the donations is another thing, so people, once you've done the challenge, don't forget to educate them WHERE to donate for the ALS Association.

Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Lounge April 2011

Held at Le Marquee, Palace of the Golden Horses and spotting quite a number of celebrities like Serena C, Jojo Struys, Fay Hokulani, Hannah Tan (who's the emcee of the night along with some guy I forgot his name) and Reshmonu and having some of them just directly in front of me really makes the whole party having the VVIP feel.

Cocktails served and a bottle of Black Label for every table (which will be refilled with another bottle once empty) plus two mixer and cocktail foods served by 'butlers', I'm definitely a happy person once again going for all these events.

Nonetheless, here's the pictures ! Celebrities pics are not available cuz I'm too busy trying out the cocktails and foods :D

DJ I-Tek from Hong Kong doing his stuff which I personally think is seriously uber awesome-ness and he brought six dancers with him!!

These cars were spotted outside!! When we reached, it was empty, but halfway through the party, this is what we saw... These two are just a small part of it...there's a Porsche and a Ferrari...

And here is our gifts from Johnnie Walker event ! Since we're not under the 'By Invitation Passes' but the contest winner list, we got these babies instead of the miniature Black Label bottle. I loved these better than the bottle seriously.

Hennessy Artistry 23102010

Technically, we didn’t get the RSVP or anything. Boyfriend was disappointed when we missed the RSVP time. Needless to say, he searched high and low for any ways to get his hands on the tickets. He found a person selling it for RM40 per ticket and, we’re there! That price, was totally worth the fun, I’d say.

InviTix

The invitation card looks awesome and I was kinda sad to part with it. Anyway, that didn’t matter. What mattered most was, I was totally wasted during the event. Hey, how could you not when it was free flow? Well, I did tweet that it wasn’t free flow and it’s 5 voucher per person for the drinks. But that was before 10 or almost 11pm. The reason being? They didn’t want people to be drunk or totally wasted before the show starts.

Event started off with some DJ spinning and first performance was Deja Voodoo Spells followed by Mizz Nina for the local acts.

DejaVoodoo1

Didn’t have much pictures of all the acts cuz hey, I was totally busy with the drinks and the fun. The whole party really hit off when Taiwan band, Da Mouth came on and followed by Kardinal Offishal next. It was totally awesome. When Da Mouth performed, all the guys was busy hooting and gawking at Aisa, the Japanese girl in the band. I gotta admit it, SHE WAS HOT. Oh before I forget, Henry Golding and a girl…forgotten her name, they were the emcees for that night.

During Kardinal Offishal performance, they picked 3 people out from the crowd for a game of their own. A girl and two guys. One by one they danced off to a Michael Jackson song. One of the guy won when he did almost-near imitation of MJ moves. The other guy break danced and although he was awesome, it was supposed to be MJ moves. Girl, sorry man, no comments. The winner danced with Kardinal after that and it did seem fun.

Less talk, more pictures to show you of the place. By the way, Hennessy came up with more mix this time. Hennessy Citrus, Hennessy Apple, Hennessy Berry, Hennessy Ginger. I loved the Berry one.

Before going in… the big logo outside.

Stage2

Stage from the side… If you notice, it was two floor stage. Totally awesome.

Drinks1

This was the beginning before the free flow starts. When it started, we filled part of our table with the drinks. The reddish ones are the berry mix flavored Hennessy. I was totally wasted, I mean it. I had videos of Makiyo when Da Mouth was performing as well as Kardinal but, quality wasn’t that good so, sorry guys, no vids of the happening party. But I’m sure if you search in youtube, you’d find tons of them.

Great fun, great party, hats off to H-Artistry again for arranging such awesome party year after year.
